Jewelcrafting Gold Making Guide Patch 3.3.3
One of the most popular professions in World of Warcraft for making gold is Jewelcrafting. It allows players to prospect and break down ore, snag dozens of rare recipes and items with their daily quest tokens, and swap out for major gold in the Auction House. But, it’s also a profession where a lot of gold can be lost if you’re not careful. So, here are a few things to consider with the recent 3.3.3 patch changes.
Honor Changes
Players can buy epic gems with their honor, and with honor changed as it is now to reward players for their marks of honor and their total playtime in the battlegrounds, those gems just got cheaper. Plus, with a spike of players now working with the new battleground finder, you’ll find that many players are seeing their gem values drop as the markets get saturated.
What can you do? First, stop selling gems. Buy them up at the lower prices. We still have one more raid at least before the Cataclysm stuff starts to hit, so there will be at least a small surge in gem demand when the Ruby Sanctum hits. All those epic gems you save up will go back up in value. It may not reach the 200+ gold levels they were at before, but they will be much higher than what they are now.
Walking Carefully
While there are plenty of ways to make gold right now, make sure you pay close attention with each major and minor patch released. With the new expansion closing in soon and the beta about to hit, you’ll probably see all sorts of stuff turning up in the game that you weren’t used to. Who knows what those changes will do the economy.
What We Know About the 3.9 Patch and Cataclysm
It’s been a long time since Cataclysm was first announced, and honestly we haven’t seen all that much information come out that wasn’t already discussed at Blizzcon 2009. That’s likely about to change soon as the rumor mills are roaring about the beta starting in April or May. But, even with a beta on the way, players are likely going to be spending a tremendous amount of time trying to uncover the new details that will make up their gameplay in 6+ months. So, the 3.9 announcement is a big deal for a lot of lore and detail hungry fans.
What the 3.9 Patch Will Do
As of right now, we don’t know for a fact what the 3.9 patch will entail as a whole. It is likely to be the complete prologue patch for the expansion pack, as we have already seen details in the twilight models, the earthquakes in game, and the various other items in the patch files from 3.3 and beyond. However, after that, we only know that the retaking of Echo Isles and Gnomereggan – the homes of the Trolls and Gnomes, two of the least developed races in the game.
For many players this is a very welcome development. After all, these are two races that have been around since launch day and have never gotten much respect, even with two new races already added and two more on the way. So, fleshing them out and getting them their own events and lore heroes is a must.
What This Means for Cataclysm
The big question though is what this will do to tie in with the Cataclysm release that will occur probably a month or so after the patch. Will it be a big precursor, or will there be another patch after 3.9 with details on the actual changes? We already know that the Cataclysm changes to the world itself will come whether you have the expansion or not, so the big question now is when that will happen and how much of the new content will we have access to? Looks like we’ll have to wait and see for a bit longer.
